End-to-End Encrypted Direct Messages

Your browser generates an X25519 key whose secret half never leaves your device. Every direct message is sealed with XChaCha20-Poly1305 before it is sent, so we relay ciphertext we cannot open. Temporary rooms are not end-to-end encrypted — we say so rather than overstate it.

In-Memory Volatile Transport

Messages and media flow strictly through volatile session memory. There is no database layer recording your chat transcripts or attachments.

Is ZeroKeepChat end-to-end encrypted?

Direct messages are. Your browser generates an X25519 key whose secret half never leaves your device, and each message is sealed with XChaCha20-Poly1305 before it is sent, so we relay ciphertext we cannot read. Locally retained history is encrypted with a separate device key. Temporary rooms are not end-to-end encrypted, because guests join without an account and so have no key — we say so plainly rather than overstate it.

Do I need an account to use ZeroKeepChat?

No! You can use ZeroKeepChat's Discover hub — including Temporary Rooms — instantly as a guest without creating an account or logging in. For 1-on-1 chats and friend channels, you can also sign in securely with Google in one click.

How do Temporary Rooms and the Knock system work?

Anyone can create an ad-hoc room and share its 6-character code. When someone enters the code, they knock and wait for the host to let them in. The host has full moderation controls to approve, deny, remove, or remove-and-ban participants with immediate live socket severance.

Does ZeroKeepChat store user messages or photos?

No. Messages, photos, and conversation history are never written to a persistent database — they exist only in memory during your session and dissolve when you leave. We do keep limited account and safety data, such as your profile, contacts, and sign-in records; our privacy policy sets out exactly what and why.

Are audio and video calls recorded or logged?

No. Audio and video calls in ZeroKeepChat utilize encrypted peer-to-peer (P2P) WebRTC connections directly between users. No voice or video streams are ever recorded, monitored, or saved on any server, and no call history logs are kept.

How do disappearing live photos work?

Photos in ZeroKeepChat are taken directly from your live camera in real time to capture authentic moments. Once viewed by the recipient, the photo dissolves completely and cannot be accessed again.

Can vanished chats, calls, or temporary rooms be recovered later?

No. Conversation content — messages, calls, and photos — is never written to disk or database backups, so once a session ends it is permanently unrecoverable, including by us.
